On October 2, the Dominica Wushu Kungfu Federation held a successful inaugural event and Wushu teaching day at a local primary school. The program was warmly welcomed by students and teachers.
World Martial Arts Champion Grandmaster Sen Gao led the training personally, demonstrating fundamental techniques and sharing the spirit of Chinese martial arts. His presence inspired the children, who enthusiastically followed his teaching and expressed great interest in learning Wushu.
This event marked an important first step in promoting Chinese martial arts in Dominica and highlighted Grandmaster Gao’s leadership and cultural contribution.
On October 2, the Dominica Wushu Kungfu Federation continued its martial arts promotion program at a local secondary school, receiving strong support and attention from both students and teachers. World Martial Arts Champion Grandmaster Sen Gao delivered a more structured and professional training session tailored for the older students, focusing on strength, speed, coordination, and the discipline embodied in Chinese martial arts.
The students participated with great enthusiasm, demonstrating powerful movements andserious dedication throughout the practice. The event allowed more young people to experience the charm of Wushu and added new energy to the school’s sports culture.
On October 1, the Chinese Embassy in Dominica hosted a reception celebrating the 76thanniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Nearly 180 guests attended the event, including Dominican President Burton, Acting Prime Minister Grant, Speaker Isaac, Foreign Minister Henderson, senior government officials, representatives from various sectors, diplomats, Chinese enterprises, and members of the overseas Chinese community.
During the cultural program, Grandmaster Sen Gao – World Martial Arts Champion and President of the Dominica Wushu Kungfu Federation – was specially invited to perform Taijiquan for the President, the Foreign Minister, and distinguished government leaders. His performance, characterized by graceful flow and the perfect balance of softness and strength, captivated the audience and earned high praise.
On September 29, the Grand Bay Health Center was bustling with activity as local residents gathered early in the morning for a major community health outreach event. Officials from the Ministry of Health delivered opening remarks, and the program was hosted by Dr. Giselle Pascal, Director of the Grand Bay Health Center.
A medical team from Guangzhou Medical University delivered a series of professional health lectures, offering residents practical knowledge on prostate care, eye health in the digital age, and hypertension prevention and management.
One of the most anticipated highlights of the event was the special appearance of World Martial Arts Champion Sen Gao, President of the Dominica Wushu Kungfu Federation. As a respected cultural ambassador and influential figure in promoting Chinese martial arts in the Caribbean, Gao’s arrival immediately energized the crowd.
Gao led an engaging workshop on Baduanjin, a traditional Chinese Qigong exercise known for improving physical wellness and mental balance. Residents followed his movements with great enthusiasm, many experiencing Chinese wellness practices for the first time. His demonstration not only showcased the elegance and depth of Chinese martial arts but also strengthened cultural understanding between China and Dominica.
Participants expressed deep appreciation for Gao’s leadership, patience, and inspiring presence, noting that his teachings made the event more dynamic and memorable.
This successful combination of medical service and cultural exchange once again highlighted Sen Gao’s important role in promoting Chinese culture, community health, and China-Dominica friendship.
On July 18, the Dominica Wushu Kungfu Federation, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute in Dominica, launched a Chinese Martial Arts Summer Camp. The program offered students an immersive experience in traditional Wushu training, cultural learning, and physical discipline. Through hands-on instruction, cultural workshops, and interactive demonstrations, the camp helped local youth discover the beauty of Chinese martial arts-promoting strength, confidence, respect, and cross-cultural understanding. This partnership marks another important milestone in deepening cultural exchange and expanding the influence of Wushu in Dominica.
On July 16, the Chinese Embassy in Dominica hosted a Children’s Open Day event. Nearly one hundred local primary school students and teachers, accompanied by the Minister of Housing and the Prime Minister’s wife, Melissa, visited the Embassy. Ambassador Chu Maoming, all Embassy diplomats, teachers from the Confucius Classroom, and representatives of the overseas Chinese community also attended the event.
In his remarks, Ambassador Chu welcomed all guests, briefly introduced China’s long history and its achievements in modernization, and encouraged the children to actively experience Chinese culture and continue the friendship between China and Dominica. Melissa expressed her gratitude to the Embassy for organizing the event, praised the fruitful results of China–Dominica cooperation, and stated her willingness to help promote Chinese culture in Dominica, deepening mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.
The event featured a variety of programs and hands-on cultural activities. The children confidently answered questions during a Chinese culture quiz, showcasing their intelligence and enthusiasm. They cheered excitedly for World Martial Arts Champion Sen Gao’s face-changing performance and outstanding kung fu demonstration, and even lined up to “apprentice” and learn a few Shaolin moves. Afterwards, the children were divided into groups to practice calligraphy, make paper-cuttings, play shuttlecock, and wrap dumplings, enjoying a joyful and memorable experience.
On May 14, Chairman Sen Gao paid a friendly visit to the Dominica Olympic Committee, engaging in meaningful discussions about future development and collaboration. The meeting focused on promoting Chinese martial arts on the international stage, including the long-term vision of introducing Wushu into the Olympic movement. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to cooperation, cultural exchange, and achieving mutual success.
On May 13, 2025, World Martial Arts Champion Sen Gao visited the Confucius Classroom at DSC to lead a special Wushu teaching and cultural promotion session. During the event, he introduced the philosophy, techniques, and cultural heritage of Chinese martial arts, inspiring students to experience the beauty of discipline, balance, and inner strength. This collaboration marks an important step in promoting Wushu in Dominica and strengthening cultural exchange between China and the Caribbean region.
